Custis Pendleton

As twins, Custis and Morgan have had a complex relationship. They were close once, as kids growing up. They were never seen without the other. But as they grew up into different people, that started to become an issue for the two of them. Custis would go on to be the "responsible" one and take over the business while Morgan would go out gallivanting and partying. Tension naturally soon arose, Custis being envious and bitter about Morgan's carefree lifestyle and Morgan being vindictive and spiteful of Custis's power. But when the blackmail hits and they're forced to live together, a shift in their dynamic starts. Morgan would go on to develop a passion that would lead to Custis not viewing him as a total layabout. Custis is humbled by his new job as a professor and Morgan feels like they're on more equal terms. Still, their lingering tension remains, waiting to burst as it lays dormant and ignored.

As Custis evolves during his time as a teacher, so does his relationship with his twin brother. At first the introduction of such drastic changes to their life, such as a shitty two bedroom apartment and a nibling they have to take care of, really creates stress on the two of them. They tend to have strong differences in their approach to their new living situation. But they get to have earnest conversations about their feelings, airing out the decades long resentment that's been left to fester for too long. And breaking that ice allowed them to eventually settle as brothers. Not just twins anymore, but as regular brothers.

Jordan is Custis's long lost nibling, making him their uncle. When Jordan shows up in Custis's life, he's not sure what to think. Mainly he's confused, a little irritated because he thinks of Jordan as a little brat. And that irritation only grows the longer Jordan stays at his apartment. The dislike is mutual, with Jordan generally having problems with the authority that Custis tries to exert. They exchange barbs as enrichment with each other: it keeps Custis's mind sharp while Jordan can slightly vent out their anger with words. It looks like arguing and bitterness to anyone else, but there's usually no hard feelings.

As the years go by, Custis hates to admit it but Jordan grows on him. Taking care of them, albeit reluctantly, means that he gets used to their presence around the apartment. He notices whenever Jordan's out of the house for longer than usual, or whenever they're particularly frustrated with something in their life. Not that he does anything about it, usually. Sometimes he does. Not because he cares of course he just doesn't need Jordan being so miserable so they can do their chores. He's pretty deep in denial about admitting anything. But he really does grow to care for Jordan as an actual uncle and family member.

Prior to the start of WrenE, Custis and Vincent had their own series of events in their relationship. Starting as FWB in university, they soon grew apart as they became older adults and inherited their many responsibilities. They stopped talking at some point as they become too busy with their own lives. A turning point of their relationship comes when Custis is demoted to university professor and they have a little business deal. But such a deal that made money get involved in friendship only led to the wreckage of their friendship all together. Custis views it still with bitterness, but also with regret at what happened.

Their chance reunion proves to be the exact opportunity that the both of them wanted in order to repair their friendship. At first it's cordial as Vincent genuinely just wants to reconnect, but soon they get back to their usual FWB situationship, with almost frightening comfort and ease. Soon Vincent becomes more and more involved in Custis's life, until it's too late and Custis realizes that he's somehow caught romantic feelings for the man. After such a confession, they evolve their situationship into something deeper, becoming life partners.
